Melber Flinn was formed in 2015 by Steve Melber, it is small, specialist interim healthcare recruitment business focused on above all, quality of service.
Steve has worked in recruitment since 2001. He studied geography at Oxford, but like most geography graduates, he had no idea what career to pursue and he went into a short term and ill-fated stint in accounting. He was told after 3 months he would not pass his initial set of exams, and so was likely to be studying for another year before qualification. That was enough to prompt a new job search and Steve was persuaded into recruitment by one of the agencies he talked to.
He spent 7 years with a nationally networked professional recruitment company, placing accountancy and finance candidates into public sector organisations in Yorkshire and the North East. He attained the company’s excellence award (for the top 1% of consultants), became top public sector performer for the north, and in 2005 he launched a successful team in the niche regeneration market.
He moved on in 2007 to an international HR specialist recruitment agency to set up the public sector offering, but the onset of the recession meant the company closed its regional offices and Steve was made redundant.
In 2010 Steve joined one of the UK’s leading interim management recruitment businesses to run their health practice. Over his 5 years with the business, health became the largest sector area, accounting for 33% of turnover in 2014. Steve was top individual company performer in 2012, 2013 and 2014, but in 2015 he decided to go it alone and set up his own interim healthcare recruitment business.
Steve lives in a small village in Yorkshire with his wife and two kids Finn and Flo. When he is not recruiting he is often running, he has a marathon PB of 2:48 and ambitions to one day be a full time athlete to see what he can achieve.
